What is bitrate, and how is it related to radio streaming and internet usage?

Bitrate refers to the audio quality of a radio stream and directly affects internet data usage. A higher bitrate gives better sound quality but consumes more data, while a lower bitrate uses less data with slightly reduced audio quality. Available bitrates depend on what the radio broadcaster provides.
How to change the bitrate of a radio station
Method 1: Change bitrate from the station list
-
Open the Radio FM app
-
Tap the radio station you want to play
-
Tap the Bitrate icon next to the station name
-
Select the bitrate from the available options
Method 2: Change bitrate from the full player
-
Open the Radio FM app
-
Search for a station or select one from Country in the Radio tab
-
Open the station in the Full Player
-
Choose the stream quality you want to listen to
Important note about data usage
Internet data consumption depends on the selected bitrate.
For example, listening to a radio stream at 64 kbps for 5 minutes uses approximately 2.4 MB of data. Higher bitrates will consume more data.
